Batteries only last 6 months, are difficult to replace
By Eric Fisk
All 6 receivers require button cell batteries that need to be replaced every 6 months (according to the instructions). I wouldn't have bought this if I had known that.

To add to the problem, the included double sided stickers that attach the flat receivers to devices block the battery compartment. You'll need to undo the stickers and also use a screw driver to get at the batteries. The compartments that make for "easy to replace" batteries are only the key ring receivers, not the flat receivers.

One other quibble is that there's no place to label the devices on the transmitter base, so you have to remember what color = what object. If you could remember things like that then you wouldn't be buying this device in the first place.

Upshot is I don't recommend the product. It's a shame, as otherwise I like the simplicity and the build quality appears to be OK (on the first day of use- I'll update if they break). I also appreciate that they included an extra battery set in the box. If I had only bought the key ring receivers and not the flat receivers I would have been happier with the design.

End note: Customer support emailed me about this review and acknowledged the design flaw, which is a good sign. I'm bumping the review up by one star because they seem to care and because it may be that all key finders have battery life problems, in which case it wouldn't be fair for me to drag down this one down relative to the others.

Update after a few months: The good side is that this product has helped us find our stuff a few times and nothing has broken. The sound level level and range is good for walking around the house looking for your stuff, but don't mistake this product for a long range pet finder.

After 6 months: The bad side is that the batteries are in fact wearing out, and the flat receivers are failing like I feared they would. The receivers start beeping at random when they run low on batteries, often at traffic signals for some reason. When you replace the battery on the flat receivers they don't reattach to the sticker well enough to be useful. We ended up retiring the flat receivers and now have to remove the gooey sticker stuff from our electronics. Dropping back to 2 stars because of that.

Great Key Finder
By Meggie
I bought this for a family member who frequently misplaces items. Two days after the Click N Dig arrived, in the morning as he prepared for work, he asked if I had seen his wallet. We used the locator remote, followed the beeps, and found it under the car seat.

I'm keeping the remote on a hook in the laundry room to use before washing trousers that might have cell phones or wallets, all of which now have the receivers. The extra batteries included are a nice touch, but these are not hard to find batteries and can be ordered online. The A27, 12V battery for the remote and the CR 0232 for each receiver and available on Amazon.

The size could be an issue for some. The receivers are not tiny, but if you are as prone to losing items as this family member is, they are not that inconvenient, either. We are so happy to have found this set!

Where the *BEEP* are my keys?!?
By Semper Fi
In the distance is a faint beep, beep, beep. Where did it come from?!? My head swivels around trying to hone in on the sound while my thumb jams down on the locator button again. *BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP* A couple quick steps towards the couch in the living room, and I am rewarded with slightly louder beeps. Ironically, this process of stopping, stabbing the button, listening, and moving goes on for about five agonizing minutes. But, it ended with me triumphantly brandishing my wife's car keys!

So, where were they? In the bottom of the couch. Not just under or behind a seat cushion. To the best of my forensic autopsy abilities, they had to have slipped out of her coat pocket & landed on the seat cushion beside the arm of the couch when it was thrown on the couch. One of the kids then sat on the coat which pushed the cushion down far enough to allow the keys to slip between the cushion & arm of the couch. And from there, it was a quick trip into the bottom of the couch. A trip which ended with me having to cut the fabric on the bottom of the couch in order to retrieve the keys.

We would have NEVER found her keys without these locators. Seriously. NEVER. This "save" by itself paid for this key locator set, and I would gladly buy another set if something were ever to happen to this one.
