Clever little widget

I bought this along with a Joby Gorillapod Micro 250 tripod. I use the combined assembly as a video stand for my fifth-generation iPod Touch.

It's tiny and folds up into something roughly the size of a car key fob, and has a small hole next to the tripod screw hole that you can use to attach it to a keychain. This really comes into its own if you use it with the Gorillapod Micro 250, because the Gorillapod Micro collapses into a sleek little package that hugs the collapsed GripTight mount tightly and cleanly.

I really like it, it's a great little accessory. It grips my iPod nicely, and has rubberized jaws that won't damage the finish. With my iPod on a tripod, I can watch videos or video chat without having to constantly hold the iPod in one hand.

solid phone tripod mount

I have seen a variety of different phone tripod mounts, and have tried several. Th Joby Grip Tight Mount is a nice simple, compact and solid design that is the best I have seen and tried. My Samsung Galaxy Nexus fits just fine, and I have no worries that it will fall out. It would seem like it would also work as a car holder also. I am almost amazed at the universal cell phone mounts that are so flimsy, and how far more solid this one compared to almost every other. Seem odd such a seemingly simple design took so long to come to market.

Galaxy Note 2 just barely fits

the Galaxy Note 2 just barely wedges in there, and if the mount had a mouth it would probably be screaming in pain. i mean go hyper-extend your knee... and that likely how this mount feels while the note 2 is in there.

otherwise, i have to say the design feels fairly sturdy as it didnt snap in half yet, but i also did not yet give it heavy use. when i go off on vacation, due to the *extremely* tight fit of the note 2, ill probably use it sparingly, and try not not take it in and out over and over if possible.

i do agree that most every other smart phone will have a nice snug no-issues fit.
